What is Wellness?
Wellness is defined as the quality or state of being in good health especially as an actively sought goal.
Dr. Christopher Kent stated in one of his articles that Arizona State University states, "Wellness is an active, life long process and making decisions toward a more balanced and fulfilling life. Wellness involves choices about our lives and our priorities that determine our lifestyles. The wellness concept at Arizona State University is centered on connections and the idea that the mind, body, spirit and the community are all interrelated and interdependent."
Wellness is proactive. You follow it voluntarily. It's a choice. The purpose of wellness is to maximize the expression of your innate potential, to be able to express your fullest health and human potential.
Wellness is an active process. You're a partner in the process. It gives you control and empowerment.
You follow the wellness lifestyle to be healthier, to be pain-free, to look good, to feel good, to reduce the effects of aging, to slow the effects of aging, to prevent diseases from developing, to avoid being a member of the sickness industry that we're familiar with.
Wellness is a choice. It's your choice and your choice alone. It's a way of life, a lifestyle. Wellness is a process, a developing awareness, a realization that there is no endpoint. When you reach this stage of health and wellness, you then move to the next step of health and wellness. And then the next, and the next, and the process continues.
Wellness is a respect for oneself. It's an acceptance of oneself. It's understanding that everything you think, say and do affects you, and it affects others. It's the acceptance, understanding and realization that mind, body and spirit interact and are one.
Wellness is not simply drinking bottled water, getting a massage or getting an occasional chiropractic adjustment.
Your health begins with life giving chiropractic care. Then you add the other lifestyle choices to maximize your health naturally. Your next step is the choice for wellness.
Wellness is so much more than 'feeling' good. It's 'being' good, and 'doing' good. It's your body functioning at peak performance. In order to do this, you absolutely totally must have and maintain a properly functioning nervous system, for your lifetime.
Those who want to be their best follow this approach. The pleasant result is often more vitality, endurance, ability to enjoy their life to their fullest, health, and yes, wellness.
You may think health and wellness is only a dream.
John Lennon said, 'You may think I'm a dreamer, well, I'm not the only one. Won't you come and join me?'
Margaret Mead said, 'Never doubt that a small group of committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.'
Health, and ultimately wellness, is not a dream. It's a reality for many.
Make the choice, the commitment, the dedication and feel the passion.
I would look forward to helping you discover your life transforming event, and be your health coach on your journey to Health and Wellness.
Wellness is your answer to better health, a better life and a better world.
